In November 1998, I noticed blood in my urine and went to a urologist for a diagnosis. Under general anesthesia, I underwent an examination of the urethra, during which a tumor was discovered and excised for analysis. This proved to be the source of blood in the urine, and I was diagnosed with transitional cell carcinoma, a cancer for which, if it reappeared, the outlook was not good.
