Multiple Sclerosis
From the perspective of Paracelsus Biological Medicine, Multiple
Sclerosis is an illness with great hope for improvement. By
treating MS patients according to a set of individually tailored
principles, PBM has had excellent results: the majority of
MS patients at Paracelsus not only feel subjectively very
well, they experience a lower incidence of symptoms, and become
measurably stronger. Although the exact causes of MS are unknown,
we have observed at the Paracelsus Klinik that this illness
can be stopped or even healed completely.
Paracelsus Biological Medicine MS Treatments
The PBM treatment for MS includes several steps and is individually
applied. The steps are listed here and described more fully
below:
| • |
Antioxidants, administered by infusion initially
and orally once the situation is stabilized |
| • |
Detoxification of heavy metals and organic toxins |
| • |
Nutritional consultation and dietary reorganization |
| • |
Holistic dental remediation |
| • |
Targeted administration of natural substances, vitamins,
unsaturated fatty acids, etc. for the reconstruction of
nervous tissue |
• |
Hapten therapy |
• |
Additional measures such as deep infrared sauna (which
provides a strong detoxification of subcutaneous fatty
tissue) and local pulsating magnetic field therapy (which
promotes cell regeneration and improves cell membrane
potential) |
The Constant Renewal of Regenerative Forces
All living tissues, including human nerve sheaths, renew themselves
constantly. However, the nerve sheath renewal process is very
slow, and depends heavily on the quality of the regenerative
fibers available to form the sheath. The myelin sheaths destroyed
in MS consist largely of high-quality fats. To support the
renewal of this tissue, we need to provide our bodies with
high-quality fats, vitamins, and amino acids. In other words:
to rebuild a house, start with high-quality materials. Individual
patients may also be treated with specific regenerating hormones
administered in natural form.
Discharge of Toxic Factors
Due to a variety of cultural and historical factors, most
Americans are constantly exposed to a wide range of chemicals:
preservatives, insecticides, and industrial solvents are all
present in our environment and our food. Some of these substances
have fat-dissolving effects; others, like insecticides, are
very damaging to nervous tissue. The PBM regime targets these
substances for expulsion through algae therapy (algae has
a strong ability to bind to toxins). The liver’s function
of processing poisons is also supported through administration
of amino acids, trace elements, and homeopathic remedies.
Damaging influences can also come from within. Organic substances
such as free radicals, toxic bacteria, and parasites are capable
of causing local inflammation and subsequent nerve damage.
The American diet is full of roasted fats, linoleic acids,
and hardened fats such as those found in margarine, roasted
peanuts, chips, etc. These fats can oxidize in the body, become
rancid, and wreak havoc. These are simply not healthy materials
for building myelin sheaths. MS patients at Paracelsus are
taught what diet creates good materials: high-quality vegetable
fats, raw vegetables, and sprouts, among other things. Patients
also receive anti-oxidative therapy (selenium, vitamin C,
B6, B12, beta carotene, and vitamin E) to great effect.
Dentistry is an important pillar of PBM, and nowhere is this
more evident than in the treatment of MS. Professor Boyd Haley
of the University of Kentucky proved that destroyed myelin
sheaths of MS patients contained toxins that were also present
in their root canals. Decomposing poisons such as thioathes,
aldehydes, and scatoles can leech from teeth that have received
a root canals and inflict severe damage on nerves. Harmful
dental work must be carefully removed, and the toxic substances
remaining must be eliminated. This treatment is extremely
important; it has greatly improved the condition of many MS
patients.
Discharge of Infectious Agents/Immune Support
Current research indicates that MS is probably not an infectious
or viral illness. It’s common, however, to find that
viral influences can worsen the disease. A remarkable number
of MS patients are seen with neurotropic and lymphotropic
viruses in addition to their MS. Cytomegaly, herpes simplex,
zoster, hepatitis B are also frequently present. PBM decreases
this viral load with nosodes, ascending diluted concentrations
of antibodies that energize the immune system. This treatment
is not dissimilar to the therapeutic use of interferon in
conventional medicine. We find, however, that interferon is
often administered at too high a dose, creating an excess
of side effects and questionable results. If the patient wishes
to continue taking interferon, PBM has treatment protocols
that can be implemented in tandem.
New research also postulates that MS may be partially caused
by an autoimmune response to bacteria that have been altered
by antibiotic use. These amoeba-like bacteria do not have
cell walls, making it easy for them to penetrate tissue undetected
by the immune system. A new immunological therapy, Hapten
immune therapy, uses partial antigens to mark these cell wall-free
forms, and make them perceptible to the immune system.
